Review of Piggy Paint!
Reviews/Giveaways — By Shannon Schmid on October 9, 2009 at 3:36 pmI LOVE Piggy Paint. Why? Because it is so rare to find a cosmetic company that cares about making their products NON TOXIC! I’ve really been trying to be greener, and get rid of chemicals in the house. And I think that’s especially important in a product likely to end up in your childrens mouths! Finger paint is beloved by little girls all over! So many of us have wonderful memories of having our finger nails painted by mom for the first time, or doing our toes at a slumber party. But when those little fingers make their way to little mouths, what kind of chemicals are our little ones ingesting?
Piggy paint is:
* Non-toxic
* Low Odor
* A Water-based formula
* Hypoallergenic
* Fun, vibrant colors
* Dries to a hard, durable finish
Try this experiment….
Drop some of your current polish on a foam plate. Does it bubble and start to eat through the plate? That’s what happened to the mom that started this company. And it made her think about the formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, biphenyl A, ethyl acetate etc…that are in other polishes! Piggy Paint is free of all those chemicals, and is water based. So no eating through plastic plates!

I got to try out Piggy paints nail polish remover, and a bottle of a beautiful purple shade called “Girls Rule.” I was impressed that the polish remover could take off two layers of my normal polish. I soaked a cotton ball in the remover put it on each nail, and my old polish wiped away without much scrubbing at all. Also- the smell didn’t give me a headache! The purple polish went on smoothly and dried perfectly. I put on two coats, and it has held up as well as any of my “regular” polishes. That, and I know that if my baby kisses my hands, or sticks my finger in her mouth that she isn’t getting a mouthful of formaldehyde.Which ya know…is a good feeling:)

That's cool. I'm a guy, and no I don't wear nail polish. Not that I have anything against guys who do. I could never pull of goth or even emo, so no black polish and eyeliner for me. But I digress. I've smelled the fumes coming off of polish and polish removers, and am very happy to know there's something safer for use by and around young girls (and boys). 15% off on sales stuff, too. That's cool. Anything that reduces toxic stuff in our home, I'm all for. Good blog. Thanks, Shannon.
